Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is a follow up to a sequel that rejuvenated a franchise that seemed to have had it’s time.

When Jurassic World hit cinemas back in 2015, I was sceptical about what I was about to see. Having been swept up in the Jurassic Park hype back in 1993.

I was however, extremely impressed and from the moment we saw the full working park through the eyes of a child opening the shutters of his hotel room. I was hooked.

It was something we actually wanted to see after watching the fall of Jurassic Park back in 1993. Yes the thrills of a disaster occurring before the park is open is great and Jurassic park still remains the best, but seeing a fully working park fail was something I personally wanted to see.

The movie gave us a kind of soft reboot going through similar motions that the original did. It introduced a new dinosaur that is bigger and meaner than the T-Rex from the first, but it goes out of it’s way to say this new animal is not as good as the original, putting right what other directors may have gotten wrong.

Yeah, I’m talking the Spinosaur killing T-Rex in JP3.

It stayed true to the original and honoured it in a way that didn’t seem too over the top. The film became a surprising hit and secured a sequel.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was released in June 2018, 25 years after the release of the first. It has a nice blend of both Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Also reinstating The Lost world and JP3 back into continuity.

Without going into spoilers it follows the story set up in Jurassic World and furthers it finally turning it’s back on the secluded island/Park gone wrong at the same time as securing a future for the franchise.

The trailers show the island being engulfed in lava so we know the time of Isla Nublar is now over and the future of the Dinosaurs will be elsewhere.

Jurassic Park was a movie that made me take notice of movies and was one of my favourites and still is today.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom gives us a new setting and a new, scarier dinosaur. It brings back new and old characters, all of whom work in their own way.

It brings back a nice blend of CG and practical effects after the criticism for an over-reliance of CG in Jurassic World.

But most of all it changes things completely turning the Jurassic Park franchise on it’s head. It’s nice to see this franchise take a massive step towards something wholly new.

Despite leaving the cinema wondering where they will go with a further Jurassic World sequel, I was left with a sour taste in the mouth.

Not only was I full of popcorn, but I felt like I’d seen this film before. It didn’t really do anything new and overall was quite forgettable.

There’s an interesting new concept brought into the franchise, and is clearly being set up for a future storyline.

It made me think of the ideas bounded about on the internet before 2015 with human dino hybrids carrying guns.

Could we get a dinosaur human hybrid of some sort? Only time will tell.

Have you seen Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, if so what did you Think? Have you any ideas where they will go on the future? Is there a future?
